Author, Bible teacher, trainer and broadcaster, Andy Peck spent his life working alongside churches and ministers in various roles, which often focused on encouraging and mentoring the next generation of Christian leaders.

After graduating from London School of Theology he worked in student ministry with UCCF. This was followed by pastoral work in three churches in the south of England before I met him when he joined Premier Christianity magazine as an editor.

A thoughtful writer of 19 books, mostly published by CWR he also lectured on various CWR training courses.

Married to his wife Nic, a school teacher and with two adopted sons – he will be sorely missed by them and the wider Christian community in Reigate, Surrey and beyond.

His life-long support of Everton football club, typified his character. The Blues of Everton are not as famous and have attracted fewer celebrities and headlines than the Reds of Liverpool FC, the other Premier League Merseyside club. But like them Andy was a great team player, who often flew under the radar, but his work ethic, his reliability (he always kept his promises), and his commitment to truth-telling rather than being ‘evangelastic’ with the facts, typified his steady and faithful character.

When people asked Andy he would say, “I try to follow the teachings of Jesus”. He was an evangelical and charismatic but respected and worked across a wide spectrum of churches including Church of England, Baptist, Methodist, New Church Streams, FIEC Reformed churches, Pentecostal and Salvation Army. He read widely and particularly valued the ministry of Dallas Willard.

His first book, Coached by Christ looked at the way Jesus mentored the twelve and how he coaches us today. He was also the ghost writer and editor for Bible teacher David Pawson on Unlocking the Bible.

Later, he was the editor of Premier NexGen, an online resource for youth and children’s ministry. For over 20 years he was a well-respected voice on air, presenting ‘The Leadership Show’ each Sunday on Premier Christian Radio where he interviewed Christians in leadership in church, charity and the commercial world. Many of these interviews are also available as Leadership Special episodes of The Profile podcast.

Andy wrote regularly for Premier Christianity magazine and served in a variety of roles across Premier’s magazines and radio departments over many years. You can read all of Andy’s journalism for Premier Christianity here. Highlights include:

An encourager, an enabler and an equipper of others - Andy’s ministry on the page, on the airwaves and in person, whether one-to-one, or teaching at a church, has impacted many thousands of lives. His legacy is rich and far reaching. A genuine and authentic man who bravely battled cancer – he continued to follow Christ and encourage others to the end, passing away aged 63.

I emailed Andy seven days before his death to say he, Nic and his lads were in my thoughts and prayers, but concluded; ”no reply necessary”. But Andy being Andy, he emailed me back with an encouraging and informed message, despite being in pain and under medication, he remembered the context of where I was living, my role at a local church and things my wife and I were praying into.

Nic posted online that they read together a few times over his last days this passage from 2 Timothy 4:7; ”I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” And that was so true of Andy, he began, continued and persevered to the very end – contending for the Christian faith all the way. Andy was also a kind man – kindness is one of the fruits of the Spirit – and in a world where masculinity is often characterised by toxicity and brute force, Andy was faithful and kind.

Pray for Nic and his sons Josh and Cam as they mourn the loss of a good husband and father. Rest in peace good friend.
