This album is exactly what it says on the tin: 30 hymns recorded by popular Christian artists such as Graham Kendrick, Stuart Townend and Israel Houghton. It has a strong mix of tracks such as ‘In Christ Alone’, ‘How Deep the Father’s Love’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’, which are produced with good-quality arrangements.

A few of the tracks sound a bit rushed, however. A number of songs stand out, including a live version of John Newton’s ‘Amazing Grace’ sung by thousands of young people at Soul Survivor. Some lesser-known hymns have been given a new lease of life by fresh arrangements, including ‘Before the Throne of God Above’ by Promise Keepers and ‘Immortal, Invisible’ by Chris McClarney. These are bold, exciting and innovative interpretations of beloved hymns.

This album is enjoyable for those who love classic hymns as well as those who are looking to expand their understanding of this important Christian tradition.
