hope-wins

Church leader Goff Hope has known suffering, having had prostate cancer and experienced the sudden death of his daughter. He describes how he and his wife responded to these challenges and found hope in Jesus. But this is not a book of pious platitudes. Some church circles almost deny or devalue the emotions and doubts that come with grief and loss. There is none of that here, simply an authentic sharing of a difficult journey.

The writer’s main point is that, as believers, we have the hope of God’s help in the present, and the future promise of heaven. The challenge is to bring that hope into the often painful reality in which we live, and at a time when the world is in chaos and many can see no reason for optimism. By bravely sharing their story, Goff and his wife, Angie, help us to see how they handled their trials with faith, and how we may realistically do the same.
