A Problem Shared: We disagree over salvation
The national body of a para-church ministry we work with has publicly rejected the traditional theology of judgement. They now say that all people, irrespective of their faith position, will go to heaven. The project and their staff team do incredible work and add a huge amount to our church’s ministry. Should we continue to work with them when they now represent a diversion from what we believe?

Living with death
It’s the one thing we can guarantee will happen to all of us, but is it possible to prepare for it ? Long before she was bedridden, she was driving along a highway through a construction site. Carefully following the detours and the mile-by-mile cautionary signs, she came to the last one that said, “End of Construction. Thank you for your patience.” She arrived home, chuckling…“When I die,” she said, “I want that engraved on my stone.”

The Radical Conservative
Reformed, evangelical, missional… Tim Chester won’t fit neatly into a box. Heather Tomlinson explores what drives him It can be quite fun trying to work out what particular Christian ‘tribe’ a person belongs to. Some people fit neatly into a box, but others like to just jumble it all up. Tim Chester is one such person.

Dear Maggie: Does masturbation discount me from church?
I’m a constant failure when it comes to Christian discipleship. I have been forward for prayer so many times about stopping masturbating, repented and asked God to help me, but then I go back to it – I just can’t sleep until I do. Is it dreadfully wrong to masturbate? I’m single, very active in my church, but feel like such a hypocrite. Maybe I should pull back from church?

Chav Christianity
In 2011, the leftist social commentator Owen Jones’ book Chavs brought the issue of the demonization of the working class to a wide audience. Has the Church been guilty of this too? Two years on, a new Christian author has made a case for reclaiming the word ‘chav’ and encouraging authentic working class Christian communities. Lucinda Borkett-Jones evaluates his approach.
