This Catholic priest and lay associate have researched what makes evangelical mega-churches tick and have applied it to their own, now very sizeable, local church. For non-Catholic readers a little translation is needed, but their accumulated wisdom is divided into easily digestible morsels.
However, these bite-sized pieces of practical wisdom are a peculiar mix. There’s some biblical wisdom, such as, ‘comfort outsiders/challenge insiders’. Then there’s a smattering of business principles, including suggestions for building your church’s brand. Finally, there’s a sizeable portion of downright obvious common sense, like keeping your church clean: ‘Christmas is over, so throw out the dead poinsettias.’ Experienced ministers may find the advice rather basic, but it could be helpful for someone starting out in parish ministry.
