Now, before you write in, I am well aware that the cross referred to in this classic slice of Redman is a different, even more important one. But the cross on your ballot paper is the only way to ensure that we get the government we want. Or in the case of the last election, the government no one really wanted.

That being said, voting is incredibly important. Democracy is something we have access to in this country, which people would give anything for in some other parts of the world. Think of it as being like proper tea, but with the potential to do even more good.

Almost inevitably, one of the party leaders will need to resign after the election, but even if it’s your favourite leaving their job, take heart! At least they don’t pass a massive farewell card around the entire country expecting you to write something funny or original.
