Rock of Ages is Cooper’s debut album as a solo artist. A collection of singalong rock worship anthems, he wrote all the songs with the exception of the title track, which is a reworking of the old hymn. The album is pleasant enough to listen to, but there’s nothing particularly new or innovative going on here.

The cover booklet contains some breathtaking photographs of outer space taken via the Hubble Space Telescope. Sadly, the songs on the album struggle to keep up with the awesomeness and wonder of God’s creation that these photographs convey. The high point is the closing track; a mellow moment with strings complementing Martin’s guitar. But after a while, the songs on this album seem to blur into one. GL
