The Bible Society-backed event will coincide with the Olympics in Rio and run from 24th-28th August.

The congress will feature 11 keynote speakers including Professor Tony Campolo, director of Christians in Sport Graham Daniels and Manchester United’s chaplain Rev John Boyers.

The event, which aims to ‘bring together athletes, practitioners, academics, Christian leaders and administrators for a critical discussion on sport and faith’ is also set to examine issues including disability, ethics, gender and chaplaincy.

A sport-themed service will be held in York Minster as part of the Congress. Former Premiership footballer, Linvoy Primus MBE and ex-Paralympian, Anne-Wafula Strike MBE, will be interviewed, and Bishop of Leeds, Nick Baines will deliver a sport-faith sermon.
