Everything Isn’t Awesome

It’s a word I’ve come to dislike intensely. I bristle when it’s thrown around carelessly, like last night, when the server at the pizza place used it to describe the pepperoni slice I had ordered. It’s the word “awesome”.


The grinning waiter breathlessly affirmed my meal choice, enthusing that the pepperoni pizza was truly awesome. It wasn’t. It was undeniably tasty. But...
