Dear Maggie: Emotionally Shut Down

"I can't express emotion" My wife says I am emotionally shut down. She and her girlfriends can chat all night on the phone and that is too much competition for me! I went to an all-boys boarding school where I learned not to indulge my emotions, and instead to get on with succeeding and being active. That’s always worked for me until marriage, which I am beginning to think I could fail at.
