The group, which is supported by many Anglican leaders in the Global South, says it is not leaving the Anglican Communion, but is ‘committed to its renewal’.

‘The members of our churches stand at the heart of the Communion…We belong to the mainstream, and we are moving forward’, it said.

GAFCON said a ‘false gospel’ is being promoted within the Anglican Communion, which denies the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and ‘promotes a variety of sexual preferences and immoral behaviour as a universal human right’. The conservative group plans to hold another conference in 2018, and say it is expanding ‘in order to touch the lives of many more Anglicans with gospel fellowship’.
