Around 35 cars arrived within the first hour of the prayer service’s launch and the initiative has proven so popular that it will be offered every
weekday evening during the rush hour period, between 5pm and 6pm.

While the church is one of the oldest in the area, its pastor, Rev Mathew Vellankal, was keen to fit around the busy lifestyles of the local community. He told Premier Christianity: ‘We have drive-through food and drive-through coffee, why not drive-through God? It is God on the go.

‘People are quite busy and they may not have time to go to the church to pray for an hour, but they may be able to find five minutes for God. ‘Our experience has been…very powerful so far. We have been getting about ten cars drive through daily asking for prayers.’
